Proactive Health Vs. Reactive Health

Many Americans have this type of mindset, “I’m not in pain, why do I need to go see a doctor?” or “I’ll take an aspirin when I hurt myself or when I’m in pain.” Unfortunately for them that kind of mindset is what got them into their painful situation. They are reactive towards their health instead of being proactive. Again this mindset is totally wrong. For example: the first sign of heart disease is a heart attack, however one may have had heart disease develop for years. Or one can develop diabetes over time and not know it’s due to poor eating habits and lifestyle choices. Both of which are preventable diseases if one were to take a more proactive mindset towards their health. Below is a chart that differentiates between a proactive mindset versus a reactive mindset towards health.

Proactive health

Reactive health

Taking the Initiative to get your body checked

Going in to get checked when you are in pain

Proper eating habits

Dieting to lose weight

Active lifestyle

Sedentary lifestyle

Wellness and Preventative Care

Sickness Care

It is common to see a dentist to have your teeth checked out. It is common to see your family doctor to get a routine check- up. It is even common to get your car checked for maintenance work. Who’s checking your spine out for subluxations or possible degenerative arthritis?

Take control of your health and be proactive! Come see Dr. George Khoury, D.C. at Advanced Health Chiropractic in Livermore to get your spinal checkup. We serve the Tri-Valley area including Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, and Tracy.
