While I was pregnant I started having some back pain, which is very typical and I expected much of it would go away after I delivered. The mid-lower back fatigue never went away, I couldn't even get through a shopping trip to Target without needing to sit and rest awhile - a feeling that used to take a full day on my feet and walking for me to feel. I was also getting pain in my right hip and had suffered for a few years with shoulder nerve irritations and numbing in my right arm from working at a desk all day. After the first month of coming here twice a week and seeing Dr. Van Aiken I felt a huge improvement, and after the end of my 12 week treatment plan 90% of my pain and discomforts were gone. In my initial consultation x-ray they saw that I have 2 pretty big scoliosis curves in my spine and no curvature left in my neck, which is bad in someone not even 30 yet. I've been coming regularly (but not as frequently as the initial 12 week treatment) for a year and a half and the curvatures in my spine and neck have improved quite a bit! I still have occasional hip discomfort partly from carrying my toddler around and those scoliosis curves but stretching, exercising and getting adjustments help so much. Even if I do feel the discomfort it doesn't last very long or inhibit me from doing my regular activities.
My husband has also been coming too for neck pain, headaches and a frozen shoulder and has had great relief in all of those areas. We were referred here by close friends who come for back problems and migraines and have felt big improvements. The staff here are all so friendly and work with you to find a routine and payment plan that will work for you. The problem was that my Doctor was telling me I was going to need a wheelchair soon because my hips were getting worse. I was scheduled for surgery on my hips when my friends told me to go Advanced Health Chiropractic. "He might be able to help" I thought "what the heck, I got nothing to lose."
Well, let me tell you! 4 WEEKS LATER, I threw away the cane and cancelled the surgery. It's been 9 months since that day and now I come to Advanced Health Chiropractic for maintenance. I feel great! Thanks Doc.

This review is long overdue but much deserved. To give some back story, I've suffered from chronic back pain for 10+ years (since I was a kid) and was never really provided solutions but rather told to deal with the pain. I got so used to being in pain and would become discouraged from doing certain physical activities because of the discomfort and pain it would inflict. As an athlete and lover of a good workout, my back and hip pain felt like such a setback. I was referred to Dr. Van Aken and truthfully was skeptical about going to a chiropractor. I had seen 6 chiropractors prior but they failed to educate me on my body and how to properly care for it. Because of that it felt like I wasn't progressing but more so maintaining a manageable level of pain. Dr. Van Aken has continued to impress me with his devotion to my care, health and physical well being. He has gone above and beyond as a provider and truly healed me. He prescribed a shoe lift to level out my hips (which no Dr has ever even mentioned!) and it reduced my hip pain significantly and allowed me to get back to running and lifting. This is just one example of how Dr seeks to get to the root cause of the problem and devises solutions that have long-term impact. I feel healed and I'm so blessed to have received care from Dr. Van Aken - I 100% trust him and have and will continue to recommended friends/family. I can't believe how good I feel. Aside from being an exceptional chiropractor, Dr is all around a genuine and kind person who really cares about you. I've seen him over 20 times and each visit he takes the time to ask how I am and gets to know me. I appreciate the personal touch. The entire staff is so friendly and welcoming. I actually look forward to my appointments because of this aspect. Would highly recommend!
